Flying to the conference Talkeetna is located about 125 miles north of Anchorage Alaska on the main Alaska highway. The organizers strongly encourage LFQIS-6 participants to book travel to and from Anchorage Alaska (ANC). Participants can rent a car at the Anchorage International Airport; the route is on fully paved roads with an estimated driving time of about three hours, but this does not count delays for large tourist vehicles and any attendant stops that one might make. Participants can also travel by train or motorcoach. The Alaska Railroad has service between Anchorage and Talkeetna twice per day each way from Anchorage (8:30 am and 9:15 am) and afternoons from Talkeetna (1:55 pm and 5:00 pm); travel time is approximately 3 hours and the fare is just over $100 each way. The Alaska Park Connection has two departures daily from Anchorage (6:30 am and 3:00 pm), and two departures daily from Talkeetna (11:00 am and 5:45 pm); travel time is approximately 2.75 hours and the fare is $65 each way, and the motorcoach runs between the Anchorage train depot and the Talkeetna train depot. The taxi ride from the Anchorage airport to the Anchorage train depot takes 15-25 minutes and costs $20-$30 with tip, and the Talkeetna train depot is 1.1 km from the Swiss Alaska Inn (and one of the organizers will be happy to meet your train or motorcoach and bring you up to the hotel.)

The organizers will coordinate ride sharing for those who are interested; participants will be contacted with details for getting in touch with others who are interested in ride sharing.
